Its with great sadness to report KooWeeRup MCC’s first female member Cheryl Rutter passed away on the 4th April 2018 aged 64 years.
Cheryl was an active member throughout the 70’s and successfully competed in many forms of motorcycling, including Scrambles (now Motocross), speedway and competed in many shows on farm bikes and one the the first woman to compete in these types of competitions. Her road registered bike was a Yamaha DT360 2stroke trail bike and for those who can remember these gems would also know they could kick back like a mule !
Unfortunately Cheryl couldn’t attend our 40th anniversary celebrations in 2014. Jo & I payed her a visit at her Lakes Entrance home prior to the 40th where she gave us copies of photos and many paper clippings of her endeavours, these were included in the 40th Anniversary DVD that was played during the evening.
When returning her photos and clipping’s we also gave her a copy of the KWRMCC 40th Anniversary DVD and played it with her, she relived many of the wonderful times she had riding motorcycles in our club colours and the many friends she made . She gave up motorcycling when her family came along and never rode again but after watching the DVD she said she was surely tempted.
A Memorial Service will be held at:
David W Bull Funeral Directors Pakenham on the 10th April commencing at 2pm (A note of Condolence has been placed on behalf of the KWRMCC on the David W Bull Funeral Directors website)
Lindsay Hansen (KWRMCC Life Member), Jo and I will be attending in club colours, if anyone else would like to attend we would love to see you there.
